Effects of Office Noise on Annoyance and Task Performance
Researchers in the Graduate Program in Acoustics are looking for participants for a study related to office/transportation noise. The experiment will take approximately 90 minutes of your time. The experiment will consist of listening to noises that occur in typical open-office environments through open windows, e.g. car passings and breaks, train honks and passings, airplane flyovers, etc. You will be asked to complete a series of performance tasks and provide ratings about the acoustic environments. Your heart rate will also be measured through three electrodes attached to your body. Your skin resistance will also be measured through two electrodes placed on two fingers of your non-dominant hand. Your brain activity will also be measured by a headband with embedded electrodes with saline solution placed on top of your head. The transportation noise signals will be played at a controlled volume. The compensation for your voluntary participation is a $20 Amazon gift card.
