Collaboration and moderation in online games
The project seeks to use empirical methods such as interview and survey to understand how game players collaborate in video games (e.g., how they work together to kill a monster in game), when breakdowns happen in collaboration (e.g., they blame each other when they fail to achieve their in-game goal), and what moderation mechanisms could be used to enhance collaboration (e.g., mechanisms that discourage them from harassing their teammates).
The proposed study will involve adults no less than 18 years old who have played online games. Participants need to speak English.
Exclusion Criteria:
Vulnerable populations such as pregnant women, children, cognitive impaired adults, and prisoners. People who have never played online games. People who are less than 18 years old. People who do not speak English.
