Neurocognitive mechanisms of stress and smoking

Smokers report that cigarettes relieve stress, but we know little about the mechanisms that drive this effect. This study will use laboratory tasks to assess how stress and smoking affect performance on cognitive tasks.

Inclusion Criteria:
Smoker > 5 cigarettes per day
Smoking for over 1 year
Right handed
Exclusion Criteria:
Significant medical conditions
Neurological Conditions/Brain Trauma
Unconventional Sleeping Schedules (e.g., 3rd shift)
Mental & Behavioral Health, Addiction & Substance Abuse, Smoking, Vaping, Nicotine and Tobacco
