MultimodalMRimagingofthemidbrain for early Parkinson’s progression
This longitudinal MRI study aims to assess two novel MRI markers for early Parkinson's disease progression. Early stage Parkinson's patients, as well as healthy volunteers of similar ages, are eligible to be enrolled into the study.
At least 35 years of age Able to tolerate a brain MRI Received initial diagnosis of Parkinson's disease within approximately the prior 3.5 years
Exclusion Criteria:
Older than 85 years of age Condition that precludes a routine MRI, such as a pacemaker or severe scoliosis Major medical problems, such as kidney or liver failure History of cerebrovascular disease, such as a stroke Intention to pursue deep brain stimulation (DBS) within the upcoming year
